Bô Bijou, an assertive, contemporary jeweled pouch with an off-beat touch.
A duet of French designers, Malou Lancery and Stéphanie Césaire, collaborate on a unique, four-handed creation.
As a clothing designer who worked many years in Haute Couture, Malou Lancery laid down her pencil to shift her focus and change her profession.
She reinvented herself as an embroiderer, working for Paris’ top fashion houses and artistic craftsmen.
Having known each other for years, Malou Lancery appeared in Stéphanie Césaire’s boutique six months ago with an immense embroidery project she was working on in a large black cardboard box. She’d been inspired by the work of Frantisek Kupka, a Prague artist who made a name for himself in the 1920’s with vibrantly colored, lyrical work that had a festive, luminous humanity.
Malou and Stéphanie decided to embark on an exceptional, essential collaboration that would resemble both of them, combining their respective creativity and skills for a unique leather bag with original embroidery.
This is how the idea for the “Bô Bijou” belt bag was born. This precious, authentic piece, almost like jewelry with its couture embroidery, contrasts with the modern way it is worn: it is carefree, belted with flare, and can be worn over an evening dress or paired with jeans.
For each piece, Malou’s astonishing hand-made embroidery mixes Bohemian glass, clay beads, rhinestones, coffee grains, rice, metal cubes, glitter and sequins in luminous gold tones with acidic accents. Like the rhythm of a fugue, her work plays against the muffled, dark leathers that respond to her vivid colors in this surprising four-handed duet.
Malou Lancery has created and made six original embroideries for 6 unique jeweled pouches. These luminous, jeweled compositions made up of Bohemian glass, clay beads, rhinestones, glitter and sequins* embroidered on pony leather or lambskin are inserted in a leather oval in gray box calf, wrinkled plum-toned lambskin or iguana-embossed cumin calfskin. The leathers and handcrafted manufacturing are French.
Bô is a belted, zipped jeweled pouch with a strap that can be adjusted by collar buttons so it can be worn as a belt or else bandoleer style for a refined, relaxed look. The first six pieces of the collaboration are available in the Césaire boutique for 950€. The Bô Bijou pouch can also be made to order.
The luxury jeweled pouch Bô Bijou is a designer bag, made in France from French and European leathers in the purest leathergoods tradition, is produced in a limited edition that respects sanitary and social standards. Césaire Paris is a naturally ethical, sustainable brand that is dedicated to making little impact on the environment.
